Nutbag the movie

Well, with a title like that you would think that you were about to watch some sort of Troma-esque wackiness, but in fact 'Nutbag' couldn't be any further from that.

Nick Palumbo's 'Nutbag' is an intense look at life through the eyes of a serial killer, as he ponders out loud his thoughts and tribulations as he goes about his business killing randomly any unfortunate young female that crosses his path. It's Palumbo's script that shines the most in this entertaining production, which concentrates on the killers mind processes and it's Mack Hail's excellent performance in this role that makes it a match made in serial killer heaven (or should that be hell!)

At times the film feels very claustrophobic, almost as though you're in the room with Hail as his mind twists and turns in his inimitable psychotic fashion - and this atmosphere is double fold due to the low budget nature of the filming itself, which adds nice effect.

There are many moments of violence throughout, but to many horror fans used to a stable diet of extreme gore it may seem quite restrained at times - but then the film is leaning more towards the mind of the killer himself and yes, there is some satisfying moments of deranged horror that will keep you entertained when our lead is interacting with his victims.

Outside of Mack Hail's great performance there are some solid shows delivered by the rest of the small ensemble cast also. Though most of them are rarely on screen for very long before being despatched, which is a shame when some of them are so gorgeous!

An impressive all round feature by Palumbo that has perked our interest in any future production that he develops in the future and readers interested in the psyche of serial killers wont go wrong checking this fine production out.

As yet, 'Nutbag' is only available on VHS (both PAL and NTSC) - for more details on the movie and how to order a copy check out the 'Nutbag' site by clicking here.
