The Girl Who Shagged Me

The Girl Who Shagged Me

Seduction Cinema in recent years have monopolised the market for soft core porn comedies and spoofs with such titles as Lord of The G-Strings, Spider Babe, Dr. Jekyll and Mistress Hyde and The Erotic Witch Project. They truly are the Russ Meyer of today. Of the films that I have seen I have been quite impressed, they have a quirky and funny enough plot as well as plenty of lesbian sex scenes so I was quite looking forward to receiving my copy of The Girl Who Shagged Me.

Captain Lavish (Frank Bowdler) is a not too successful explorer who heads out to find the Ice Godess (Anoushka), along the way he looses his guide, Dudley, to a yeti (in the Scottish Highlands no less) but he is for once successful. However, when he is transporting the frozen Godess it is stolen by Dr. Unsound and his lovely assistant Jade (Rachel Travers). The Godess, once thawed, has the power to control the world so Captain Lavish must stop her and hot on the heels is super-secret agent Johnson (Misty Mundae).

Pretty simple plot hey? Well yes and no. The Seduction plots usually are this simple but with many other little scenes that don't really have much to do with the film but generally are very funny. In The Girl Who Shagged Me we get many of theses scenes from Johnson visiting Hannible Letcher (also played by Misty) to a short mock porn film (which is the highlight of the film).

Let's just get the negatives out of the way first. As you would expect from a very low budget production the actors, costumes and effects are not that good at all although it could be argued that these below par attributes actually lend themselves to the humour of the films. The overall production values (set, direction, lighting, sound etc) is less than that of a television program but much better than that of most student or art house flicks owing to the fact that the sound is audible throughout and the lighting is actually very competent.

What makes this film worth seeing has nothing to do with production values but with the script and on screen action. The script is exceptionally witty (as are most Seduction scripts) which is refreshing because mainstream movies wouldn't/couldn't go near some of the subject matter or indeed make a joke out of it. The sight gags are stupid and funny and as for seeing some half decent young ladies parading about with little or nothing on, well that'll always get a thumbs up from me.

All in all these films are a bit of mindless fun with plenty to laugh with and laugh at, well worth a watch.

DVD EXTRAS

The commentary to the film is by director Tom J. Moose and scriptwriter Andy Sawyer. It is frigging hilarious! They decided to comment on this 'red hot movie' by eating some 'red hot chillies'. From the start it is amusing to hear then panting and slurping water trying to fight the heat of the chillies until one of them is nearly sick and they decide perhaps it wasn't the best idea ever. Other that those antics the commentary is quite informative and we learn that they are big fans of Photoshop.

The deleted scenes are of limited value and easy to see why they didn't make the final cut.

When Camels go Apeshit: This little behind the scenes extract is of the camel running about with the actor on its back before throwing him off. The camels don't look the healthiest and it all seemed a little below board. Mind you it's pretty funny and at least they can send it off to You've Been Framed to reclaim half their budget back.

Finally the behind the scenes featurette offered little insight into the making of the movie but did show how much fun the cast and crew were having on the shoot. All in all this isn't a disc to buy for the extras but is well worth getting for the film itself.
